FADE IN:
INT. INSIDE ROOM OF HOUSE
Man rummaging through closet.
Finds an old computer.
OLD MAN
Ah!
Pulls out the computer, mouse and keyboard.
INT. DESK INSIDE ROOM
Sets the computer, mouse and keyboard on a desk.
Old Man fiddles with the computer; plugging it in.
INT. MAN STANDING IN FRONT OF COMPUTER SCREEN
Old Man turns on the computer.
OLD COMPUTER
(Chimes)
INT. MAN STANDING IN FRONT OF COMPUTER SCREEN - CONTINUE
Old Man is silhouetted in front of the glow of the computer screen.
INT. IN FRONT OF COMPUTER SCREEN
The computer screen reads “Hello”.
INT. MAN STANDING IN FRONT OF COMPUTER SCREEN
The Old Man yawns and leaves his SMART PHONE and keys on the desk, about 2 feet from the Old Computer.
INT. CLOSE UP ON OLD COMPUTER ON DESK
ZOOM IN:
INT. OLD COMPUTER ON DESK
As the old computer comes into focus, we can see eyebrows, squinty eyes and a mustache.
OLD COMPUTER
(Inquisitive Chime)
Hello?
Nobody answers the Old Computer.
INT. VIEW FROM THE OLD COMPUTER’S POINT OF VIEW - DAY - CLOUDY
The Old Computer looks around the desk and notices an open magazine.
The magazine reads; “Connect with the world! America Online! Dial 555-1212”
INT. OLD COMPUTER ON THE DESK - DAY - CLOUDY
OLD COMPUTER
(Excited Chime)
The Old Computer begins to dial him modem.
INT. THE OLD COMPUTER’S MODEM
Modem Dials.
Dial tone.
Number tones.
2 Rings.
TELEPHONE COMPANY (O.S.)
“We're sorry, you have reached a number that has been disconnected or is no longer in service. If you feel you have reached this recording in error, please check the number and try your call again.”
INT. OLD COMPUTER ON THE DESK
The OLD COMPUTER looks disappointed.
He looks around some more and sees other numbers to other systems on a sheet of paper next to the old magazine.
He starts dialing several other numbers.
OLD COMPUTER
(Inquisitive Chime)
Hello?
Dials first number…
Modem Dials.
Dial tone.
Number tones.
2 Rings.
TELEPHONE COMPANY (O.S.)

Hangs up.
Dials second number…
Modem Dials.
Dial tone.
Number tones.

(Squeal of Alarm - Yikes!)
Quickly Hangs up.
Dial tone.
The OLD COMPUTER hangs his “head” in sorrow.
The OLD COMPUTER notices a noise going on at the other end of the desk.
It’s a small SMART PHONE that appears to be having a good time.
The OLD COMPUTER is intrigued.
What is he doing?
INT. THE SMART PHONE HAVING FUN
SERIES OF SMART PHONE “HAVING FUN” MOMENTS:
The SMART PHONE “taps” several social networking dialogs.
SMART PHONE
(Messaging Sounds)
New Message Noise.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Noise.
New Message Noise.
Laughing.
CUT TO:
OLD COMPUTER
(Inquisitive Chime)
Hello?
CUT TO:
The SMART PHONE continues to socialize with the internet.
SMART PHONE
(Messaging Sounds)
New Message Noise.
Tap. Tap. Tap. Noise.
New Message Noise.
CUT TO:
OLD COMPUTER
(Inquisitive Chime)
Hello?
CUT TO:
The SMART PHONE continues to socialize with the internet.
The SMART PHONE seems a little annoyed with the OLD COMPUTER interrupting him.
CUT TO:
INT/EXT. Through the window, storm clouds can be seen rolling in and a not so distant lightning flash is seen on the horizon.
CUT TO:
SMART PHONE
(Messaging Sounds)
New Message Noise.
The SMART PHONE morphs into the OLD COMPUTER (same phone shape, just with old eyebrows and mustache)
SMART PHONE
(Derogatory, Mocking Tone)
Whah. Whah. Hello?
Laughing.
The SMART PHONE kicks up the fun by starting group music sharing.
CUT TO:
The computer realizes he is being made fun of and hangs his “head” again in sorrow.
The SMART PHONE music can be heard along with message tones and laughter. (O.C.)
A party song “Big Energy” (CLEAN) starts playing. (O.C.)
Lights flashing with the beat lighting up the room.
The OLD COMPUTER squints the eye getting the most flashing (Left Eye)
“…I got that big, big energy…” (O.C.)
CUT TO:
The SMART PHONE is pumping to the beat.
“…make’em sing to this thing like a melody…”
CUT TO:
The SMART PHONE is chill back wearing a boa, chain necklace and sunglasses.
“…want you bein’ honest…”
CUT TO:
EXT. A CELLULAR TOWER LOOMS IN THE DISTANCE
The CELLULAR TOWER is hit by a bolt of lightning and the SMART PHONE loses its signal.
CUT TO:
INT. INSIDE ROOM OF HOUSE
[The SMART PHONE is no longer wearing the boa, chain necklace and sunglasses.]
The signal bar on the SMART PHONE slowly drops to zero.
The music abruptly stops.
The lights abruptly stop.
SMART PHONE
(Panicked Disbelief - Beeping Sounds)
Whaaa?, No… No. No. No!
SERIES OF SMART PHONE “PANIC” MOMENTS:
The SMART PHONE tries his messaging app.
SMART PHONE
(Buzzing Sound)
Wah waant!
There is an icon for messaging app on his screen with a large exclamation sign on it.
The SMART PHONE tries his music app.
SMART PHONE
(Buzzing Sound)
Wah waant!
There is an icon for music app on his screen with a large exclamation sign on it.
The SMART PHONE tries his streaming movie app.
SMART PHONE
(Buzzing Sound)
Wah waant!
There is an icon for streaming movie app on his screen with a large exclamation sign on it.
Nothing is working.
The SMART PHONE slumps down onto his “butt” and starts to cry.
The tears start to form a significant pool around him.
SMART PHONE
(Zapping Noise)
The smart phone is electrocuted.
CUT TO:
Mall music is playing in the background as the phone is sitting in a bowl of rice. There is a large bag of rice next to the bowl that reads “Rice”.
CUT TO:
The phone start pacing back and forth.
CUT TO:
The OLD COMPUTER offers up a game of Tic-Tac-Toe.
The game is drawn up and the computer takes the upper left spot with and X.
CUT TO:
The SMART PHONE sniffs, gets his composure and reciprocates.
An O is drawn on his screen and…
CUT TO:
…“transferred” to the OLD COMPUTER’S screen.
We now see that a game has started.
CU on the SMART PHONE’S screen.
The signal bars go back up.
Service has been restored.
The SMART PHONE gets a text message.
SMART PHONE
(Messaging Sounds)
New Message Noise.
The smart phone closes the app (fade the screen out like an old television - Iris Out)
The SMART PHONE then makes his next move, continuing the play the game.
FADE OUT:
The song “Big Energy” [8 Bit Version] starts playing as we zoom out from the characters.
