Hey there! This has been a story I've looked for every week - and I love the direction you've taken it! The shell sounds like home! That's such a sweet twist that helps me have empathy for the character. You did a great job visually storytelling and not relying on narration. I will say, without knowing the story and the character's difficulty with language, I would have been a bit confused in the beginning. It wasn't entirely clear (without narration) that she moved to a new place... and why she didn't want to engage with the shop owner, or why she was sad on the beach. But really, great story, illustrations, and sound effects! I love the theme of friendship, too. :) Congrats on a job well done!

O sole mio! What a story! I love it! loneliness when one changes country and environment. Nostalgia inside the shell. New friends, new music in the shell. And what a detail at home with the football match of the Italian national team in the background! (I live something similar because I'm from Spain) I really want to see the full short film!

Love the theme and loved to see some solid representation! Curious to see where the beach is located? What beach, in particular, is this located in? I think having a more fleshed-out setting would really make this story pop. Visuals were easy to follow and the story flowed nicely and keeps you engaged! Great work. all the best to ya!

The ending feels really good. Nice work overall. My suggestion would be to make it a little more difficult for Naila to address the girls when they found the shell. That she really has to overcome her shyness.

I like the idea about the shell can sing! It is fascinated that could make many interesting plots, and the drawings are so beautiful! Great work!

I love the feature of the shell being able to play music and communicate with her on a personal level. Then to find out it communicates with who ever holds it on their own level is awesome. To make the story more dynamic, maybe the shell should somehow end up in the wrong hands and Naila and her new found friends must come up with a plan to get it back. Great job of storytelling.

This is a very round and very well telled short story with amazing drawings. Neat editing too. Naila is very relatable and charismatic in her own way. One of my favorites so far

Not all Shells sound like the Ocean

Naila is a young girl who moves with her family to a new country and struggles to adapt to the new language and culture. Every day she goes to the beach and listens to her music to tune the world out, until one day she discovers a magical shell that sounds like home. Because of this she tries to call her friends to tell them about it, but they are still asleep in a different time zone. Because of this she tries to talk to another girl on the beach, but struggles with her English and feels like a failure. Because of this she doesn’t notice the shell fall out of her bag and get left behind on the beach. She discovers it’s missing but has to wait till morning to go back and get it. Until finally she runs back to the beach and sees that someone else has already found it - the girl from the day before. Together they discover that the shell can sing a new song they’ve never heard before - one that inspires fun and friendship. Ever since then, Naila, Skyler, and Samantha have become good friends and spend the rest of summer vacation exploring at the beach and looking for other amazing treasures.

The moral of the story is: you never know when something new is right around the corner.
